Gigham

An events marketplace startup built around discovering events through your connections.
Gigham was a startup funded and supported by Google that I spent nearly two years building. The core idea was simple: help people find events through their social graph rather than through generic listings.
It was selected at Demo Africa as one of the best startups in Africa and developed under the Google Umbono Incubator Programme.
The project was a deep technical and business reset. After several years working mainly as a Creative Director, it forced a rapid re-engagement with the changing realities of digital product building: the rise of Javascript, agile working methods, responsive and mobile-first design, growth hacking, Amazon EC2 and the operational discipline of startup execution.
Like many startups, it ultimately ran out of money before securing a second funding round. But it remains one of the most formative product-building experiences of my career.
